Scale and size
Flocked products can range from mini figures around 3 cm to larger display pieces over 30 cm. Size should be planned together with the base material, flocking area, packaging and intended use.
Articulation and Assembly
Flocked toys can be static or articulated depending on the base structure. Movable heads, limbs or jointed parts can be used, but joint clearances and friction areas should be planned carefully so movement does not damage the flocked surface.
Material Choice

Basic Knowledge About Flocked Toy
A physical sample lets the buyer verify the base shape together with flocking color, fiber length, coverage, boundary cleanliness, hand feel and visible shedding before bulk production. Once approved, the sample becomes the production reference for both the molded part and the flocked surface.
Prototype development first confirms the base structure, dimensions and assembly, then uses flocking trials to validate surface preparation, masking, adhesive, fiber length, color and coverage. Revisions should be completed before the sample is approved as the mass-production reference.
Choose a supplier that can manage both the base-part process and flocking quality. Ask for comparable flocked projects, sample standards, masking and adhesive controls, shedding checks, inspection criteria, testing support, timeline and a quotation that clearly separates development and production costs.
Quality checks for flocked toys should cover the base part as well as the surface finish. Inspect adhesive coverage, fiber density and direction, color consistency, clean masking boundaries, exposed base areas, loose fibers, staining, assembly, dimensions and packaging against the approved sample.
Product & Production-Related Issues
Before shipping flocked toys, confirm how the flocked surface will be protected from rubbing, compression, dust and contact with inserts or adjacent parts. Master-carton size, stacking strength, shipping method, customs documents and destination responsibilities should also be finalized before production ends.
CMYK values help printers reproduce packaging colors more consistently in production. Because screens use RGB, printed boxes, labels and inserts should be prepared and approved in CMYK to reduce unexpected color differences.
The 3D model defines the base shape, dimensions, part separation, assembly and areas that will later be masked or flocked. It should be reviewed for manufacturability before prototyping because sharp recesses, narrow gaps and difficult surfaces can affect adhesive access and flocking coverage.
Use RGB for digital displays and CMYK for printed packaging. If the final artwork will be printed on boxes, labels or inserts, prepare and approve the production file in CMYK and check important brand colors against a physical reference when color accuracy matters.

Packaging for flocked toys should protect the soft surface from rubbing, pressure, dust and color transfer while keeping the product stable in transit. Inserts should avoid unnecessary contact with flocked areas, and the retail box and master carton should be tested with the actual production sample.
Flocked color can vary because of fiber batches, adhesive color, base color, fiber density, lighting and production conditions. Use approved physical color references and flocked samples, then define acceptable tolerances so the buyer and factory judge production against the same standard.
The agreement should connect payments to clear milestones such as design confirmation, sample approval, tooling, production and shipment. It should also state what is included, how changes are handled and what evidence is required before each payment.
Buyers should confirm that they own or are authorized to use the character, logo and artwork. Licensing scope, confidentiality, permitted quantities and territory should be documented before files and tooling are released for production.
Safety requirements depend on the target country, intended age, base material, adhesive, flock fiber and product features. Define the sales market and age grade early so material restrictions, small-part risks, surface durability, labeling and laboratory tests can be planned before mass production.
Approve artwork and specifications early, identify long-lead materials, respond quickly during sampling and avoid late structural changes. A realistic critical path shortens idle time without skipping validation or inspection.
Set the target quantity, size, materials, finish, packaging and must-have features before requesting a quotation. Separating essential details from optional upgrades helps the factory propose alternatives without weakening the core design.
