Resin Materials and Manufacturing Basics
Vinyl is often chosen for hollow stylized forms, PVC for detailed or slightly flexible parts, and resin for rigid display pieces and smaller production runs. The best choice depends on structure, quantity, finish, durability, budget and how the product will be sold.
Common mistakes include designing parts that cannot be molded or assembled reliably, using details that are too fine for the chosen process, ignoring draft and parting lines, and delaying packaging or safety decisions. Early manufacturing review helps resolve these issues before tooling.
Plush and resin can be combined when each material has a clear role, such as a soft character body with a rigid face, accessory or display base. Attachment points, weight balance, breakage risk, cleaning, packaging and safety need to be engineered and tested together.
Magnetic parts in resin figures need secure mechanical retention or suitable bonding, correct polarity and checks for attachment strength. Small magnets also require age-grade and market-safety review before the design is approved.
Product & Production-Related Issues
Clear resin quality depends on material selection, mixing, degassing, mold preparation, controlled curing and finishing. Bubble and yellowing risks can be reduced but not judged from artwork alone, so buyers should approve a representative sample and define acceptable visual limits.
CMYK values help printers reproduce packaging colors more consistently in production. Because screens use RGB, printed boxes, labels and inserts should be prepared and approved in CMYK to reduce unexpected color differences.
3D modeling helps define proportions, part separation, undercuts, assembly features and fragile details before mold preparation. Reviewing these points early reduces avoidable revisions and helps the approved design move more reliably into resin casting.
Use RGB for digital displays and CMYK for printed packaging. If the final artwork will be printed on boxes, labels or inserts, prepare and approve the production file in CMYK and check important brand colors against a physical reference when color accuracy matters.

Resin is commonly selected for rigid display pieces, detailed surfaces and lower-volume collectible projects. The exact resin system should be chosen according to size, wall structure, color, transparency, strength, finish, production quantity and target-market requirements.
A scented resin product requires a compatible fragrance system, controlled dosage and validation that the scent does not interfere with curing, appearance or packaging. The target market should also be reviewed for labeling, chemical and allergy-related requirements.
Small-batch production can use lower-investment processes or simplified specifications, depending on the design and finish. The right method balances unit cost, tooling cost, repeatability and future scaling instead of treating the lowest initial quotation as the only criterion.
Yellowing risk can be reduced through suitable resin selection, controlled curing and finishing, and by evaluating clear parts under the expected storage and display conditions. Buyers should approve a representative sample and define acceptable color change before production.
For very small resin figures, buyers should review whether fine features, thin sections and part separations can survive printing, cleaning, handling and finishing. A physical sample is important because details that look clear in a 3D file may become fragile or difficult to finish at small scale.
Glow effects are created with compatible luminescent pigments or components selected for the base material and production method. Color, glow strength, charging conditions and visual consistency should be approved on a physical sample before production.
