Sofubi generally refers to soft-vinyl figures formed through rotational or slush molding, while Kinkeshi are small, simple collectible figures historically associated with flexible rubber-like materials. Their scale, cultural origin, detailing and manufacturing methods are different.
Sofubi developed from Japan’s soft-vinyl toy tradition and became closely associated with kaiju, character collectibles and independent artists. Its appeal comes from hollow construction, distinctive forms, hand-finished variations and a strong collector culture.
A physical sample lets the buyer verify proportions, materials, colors, construction and basic performance before bulk production. Once approved, it becomes the reference standard for production and helps reduce expensive corrections later.
